Fallen London

Fallen London is a literary RPG in which you can explore a Victorian underworld inspired by classics from the likes of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft, and Shirley Jackson. Both the game's story and the available actions are accessible through menus that you can read before making decisions.

To play Fallen London, the first thing you have to do is make your character, which you can further customize as you advance through the game. This customization will range from the clothes you choose to the skills you develop. Will you become a very persuasive person? Or, on the other hand, will you be a threatening sort of person?

One of the strengths of Fallen London is its narrative, and while it does follow certain predetermined patterns, the story is not completely linear. That is to say, it's not quite an interactive novel but actually something much more complex and entertaining. According to its developers, the game contains a whopping total of 1,500,000 words. To give you an idea of how much this is, it's even more than all the words in all three Lord of the Rings books combined.
